Today was our first day back at school and we started a bunch of new things today.
We started a picture of the day. Everyday an image will be projected on the screen and the students will describe the image, then infer what is happening in the image and last ask questions about the image.
We also started our reading notebooks. Each student is expected to read 25 books between now and The last day of school. Why? Because I want them to love reading. I want to build lifelong readers. I want them to learn about themselves as readers-what kinds of books do they like, what genre... I want them to get lost in a book and not be able to put it down. Starting this challenge and activily promoting books and reading in our class is just the start! They are going to record all the books they have completed, abandoned, or want to read. We are going to share our favourite books and recommend books to others.
Please encourage your son or daughter to read at home!
